If you want to sell stuff on eBay, you need to consider some of the more important steps to successful eBay sellers are taking before they ever put up an auction listing. Follow these simple strategies and you're well on your way to selling more products faster at a higher profit margin to more people in faster time intervals.
Items to Sell on eBay Start With Research and Vendor Relationships is a post from: Advanced Marketing 101, Las Vegas, Nevada

By far one of the most common mistakes people make when trying to find items to sell on eBay is not paying attention to identifying the right products to sell and building the right relationships with the right vendors for the right reasons.

eBay today is quite different than the eBay of just five years ago.
Corporate America has stepped in and many people who were very successful on eBay selling commodity items have left eBay to pursue other endeavors.

If you are still on eBay and selling products successfully I congratulate you

If you are new to eBay and trying to figure out what products to sell do not get into a buy sell mode until you have done your research on products and markets to sell into within the eBay space.

More importantly, think about just how important it is to have a good relationship with a qualified vendor who can supply you with products that sell, that are profitable and position yourself into a win-win environment with your suppliers.

If you’ll recall I made mention in a previous post that there is significant value in becoming a manufacturer’s representative by where you sell products for a company/manufacturer that is looking for someone to sell and/or distribute products on eBay as well is off the website.

Far too many people undervalue the importance of the vendor relationship. First-hand experience with vendors as well as other eBay Power Sellers about what works is critical to long-term success.

When you have a strategy down that works, and you know the marketplace that you’re going to sell into his profitable because of accurate research that you’ve completed your well on your way to actually making a profit once you first get started.

Taking the time to think things through focus on the strategy is by far one of the most overlooked topics well intended people forget to cover prior to selling items on eBay.

Know this: By speaking with qualified vendors, they will offer you insights into what products are selling online and be more than willing to help you by sharing sensitive information . They may have compiled about products, their competition, market and seasonal variations in the demand of items.

Taking the time to ask questions and think things through with qualified vendors are some of the most important strategies you can follow before you get started with items to sell on eBay.

Continued success,

Sourcing products online can be a cumbersome task if you are not plugged in on how to get an unlimited supply of products from qualified manufacturers looking for people to represent their product line(s). Learn the difference between becoming an affiliate , as opposed to becoming a Manufacturer's Representative.
Online Selling Secrets Revealed Try This is a post from: Advanced Marketing 101, Las Vegas, Nevada

Often I am asked by eBay sellers, online auction marketers and people in general what they can do to source products should they not have anything to sell themselves.

If you’re thinking about getting serious about selling on auction sites such as eBay, Yahoo, Back Page, and even Craigslist consider the enormous potentialof becoming becoming a Manufacturer’s Representative.

What’s important to know is that the Manufacturers Representative is quite different from an affiliate. In fact, the manufacturers representative is the go to person, who can represent a product. Multiple products, or even entire product line.

Fact is, there are literally thousands of manufacturers worldwide who are looking for people to help them represent their products here in North America and abroad.

just because a company can manufacture a product, they must be able to sell it. Quite to the contrary. There are many variables to factor in including, branding, distribution channels, private labeling, multi-language brand identity, and in person representation of the product.

I’ll encourage people never to assume that just because someone has a product, or product line that they are selling the product. In fact you look on google and type of the word manufactures representative you would find that there are well over 24 million webpages that use that phrase.

Below are some simple steps that you can take to try and reach out to a Manufacturer’s Representative:

First, target a market in your chosen country or countries can identify a product line that is in demand and has good potential of selling. You don’t necessarily have to sell a commodity-based product, niche products are just as well, if not better to sell both in North America and abroad.

Second, did extensive research to see how much demand there is for a specific product or product line and seek to learn just how many companies may be selling that product to a specific geographical market.

Do not assume that eBay is the only place to sell products. eBay is only a small sliver of other markets that are available online.

It move you to do your research and find out if there is in fact demand for a particular product, or products that you are considering selling.

Should you discover that there is a demand for a particular product line, consider selling a product. But, it’s imperative that you have objective information on just how many companies and/or individuals may be selling a particular product.

Third, once you have identified a potential product line you want to sell, try to locate, who the original manufacturer of the product may be.

Fourth, pick up the telephone and contact the manufacturer, informing them about your intent, of wanting to sell their product to a specific market.

Here’s where it gets fun. Ask them if they have a manufacturer’s representative, who is representing this the sale of that product to a specific geographical market.

You would be surprised to find out that in many cases, manufacturers are looking for people to represent the sale of their product.

Fact is, you won’t know until you ask. It will move you to step out of your comfort zone and take a small risk by asking some simple questions.

Even if they say no, thank them for the information and take the time to send them a follow-up letter acknowledging that you are interested in selling their product.

Fifth, the key to converting using the follow-up. Take the time to revisit that manufacture and follow-up with them. Get names of contacts, and keep your name on their radar. You would be amazed at what can happen. He stay in contact with a manufacture over time.

How to Blog – Seven Habits to Apply to Online Blog Marketing

1 – Successful Bloggers Share Knowledge & Never Hoard It

Insular blogging is by far one of the biggest mistakes new bloggers make without even knowing it.

A critical success factor to Blog exposure is to offer up content to other blogs, website owners and other media outlets in exchange for your email address. Don’t be shy about asking for content. More importantly, make it a point to continuously offer your content to others.

As with any successful Blog Marketer, have the following mindset: We live in a universe of plenty.

When you think about it, know that you are making a big mistake if always hold the cards and hoard the content. I am not saying to give away the farm. What I am saying is do not sell yourself short; get a much exposure as you possibly can. Fact is if you create your own content and retain all rights of the content, you control how it is distributed.

Rule of thumb, share knowledge through well written content and you might be surprised who reads your blog when you are not around.

By the way, if you want content for your blog or website, do not hesitate to contact me? I will try to respond to you in within 48 hours.

2 – Successful Bloggers Consistently Post Content to their Blog on Topics They Are Familiar With

You will find that when you write on a topic you are familiar with, you can produce content incredibly fast.

It’s almost like any other activity; if you are familiar with a topic or area of expertise, knowledge will flow more freely. Make no mistake about it, this holds true for blogging.

More importantly, you will find that informed visitors to your blog will instantly know you are knowledgeable about the topic(s) discussed. If they are intrigued by what they read, chances are they will return back to the blog and/or spread the word.

If you are looking for exposure, continue to research, network and seek out knowledge from others about the topics you are familiar with. Doing so not only makes it easier for you to post more content, it empowers you to make a bigger footprint on the World Wide Web.

3 – Successful Bloggers Interact with Readers and Leverage Social Media Tools

Blogs can improve communications between bloggers and readers interested in Blog content. Look around! Blogs are growing in popularity because Bloggers have a simple way to upload content to readers who are interested in their content.

Blogger’s who take the time to interact with readers benefit everyone.

Here’s why:

Google’s algorithm is always on and while it gets changed approximately 450 times a year, the robots that go out on the web look for changes on blogs and websites. Click here to learn more about Search Engine Marketing Blogs.

Blogs are all over the place and many of the Blog Aggregators are watching and promoting blogs which have high value content, readership and ties into the social networking sites.

Blogs, as many readers know, continue to grow in popularity and rank as some of the most heavily visited websites in the world.

Blogs, while relatively new are not a fad. Blogs are here to stay and serve as a preferred medium over conventional websites.

Blog readership is increasing and successful bloggers cross-pollinate other media segments including television, radio, books and the big screen.

4 – Successful Bloggers Build Their Brand and Build Other Brands Around the Clock

Let’s be honest here, most people (like me) who manage blogs do so to generate traffic, gain readership, promote their company, their affiliates and build their brand.

There is nothing wrong with doing the aforementioned. What’s nice about blogs and the Internet is they always on! They never turn off and for those of you who enjoy writing and building businesses through different mediums, blogs can serve as a great tool to get feedback on your products and services; simply ask.

Earlier I made mention of two things:

A. Insular blogging is by far one the biggest mistakes new bloggers make without even knowing it

B. Share knowledge through well written content and you might be surprise who sees you when you are not around.

Know that when you share knowledge about other people’s products, services and brands, they tend to reciprocate (simply ask). Take the challenge and don’t try to be self-serving; you will be quite surprised at how many bloggers will serve up content to you if you simply ask.

It’s a great way to meet others with common interests and friendships along the way.

5 – Successful Bloggers Produce Unique, Knowledge Rich Content in Multiple Media Formats

I recently read an informative article in a popular offline trade magazine only to find that the article in the magazine was almost identical to a television commercial I view here in Las Vegas just a few days later.

When you produce content that is unique and provides value to the reader, there’s a good chance that same content is recycled, and then repurposed in another media format. That’s branding 101!

If you would like to see how it’s done, simply email me and on the subject header type in SHOW ME HOW IT’S DONE.

Speaking of multiple media formats, think how much easier it is to take a blog post you have written, convert to an audio production and then change the title to give you double exposure to both readers and listeners.

As you become familiar with blogging, don’t lose sight of other media platforms – leverage them!

6 – Successful Bloggers are Good Writers and Can Talk to You through Blogs

All too often we see bloggers who have great ideas, goals and objectives, yet they fear writing.

Know this: You do not have to be a great writer to post information or knowledge to a blog. If you are a poor writer work on sharpening your saw, or find someone to outsource your writing to.

The fact is everyone on planet earth has a finite skill set. Identify what you are good at and focus on the 2 or 3 skills you do extremely well.

Never assume you have to be the all-in-one web developer, graphic artist, PHP programmer, writer, proofreader and editor. For 99% of us, that is a recipe for disaster.

When you write, forgive yourself when you make typos and grammatical mistakes. The goal here is to get the word out about the topic you are writing on. Chances are you will receive comments from others who have nothing better to do than critique your writing. Thank them and move on.

Should you write something, post it to your blog and then receive a barrage of comments about how horrible the grammar is, improve your writing skills or hire someone to proofread and edit your content.

7 – Successful Bloggers Learn Well In Advance What Topics and Technologies Work Well with Blogs.

The fact is most successful bloggers had no idea blogs would take off in the manner in which they have over the last couple of years. Blogs and social media websites are now major players on the Internet.

We can all remember when skeptics were downplaying and murmuring negative comments that the Internet was a white elephant; it really was of little or no value in mainstream media communications.

Would you say that assumption was correct? I don’t believe so.

It behooves us, regardless of skill set, goals or the industry were in to follow the 7P Rule:

“Proper Proactive Planning Permanently Prevents Poor Performance”

As with any other hobby or profession, you can approach any endeavor flat-footed or arm yourself to the gills with education and training. With blogging, strike a balance that makes sense for you.

Be a believer in yourself, get educated on blogging before you dive in. It can only benefit you to answer an important question, “Do I want to make blogging part of my marketing strategy?”

Warning! Don’t use your lack of experience to delay you from getting started. I was guilty of this and I regret that.

Utilize the Internet during the pre-launch planning phase to see what other people are blogging about. Nowadays, there are thousands of books available on the topic of blogging at libraries, bookstores and online.

If you are on a shoe string budget, take a guess where you can go? Blogs!

Also, do not forget to look at opt ins for newsletters, RSS feeds, hosting services and the numerous other technologies that help you build your blog correctly the first time. If you want to scale your blog and automate most of what happens on the blog, expect to invest time and money into auto-responders and other dynamic communication technologies.

Note: You do not have to purchase the aforementioned technologies to get started. However it would be wise to know what you can do at a later date should you want have a more of a dynamic blog.

Like many of you, I’m continuously trying to improve on my blogging skills. Again, as with any discipline seek to find out what works with other successful blogger’s.

Read their blogs, listen to what they say, look for mistakes they may have made in the past (ask them) and conduct extensive research online.

Some of my best picks for ultra-smart bloggers are: Yaro Starak, Willie Crawford for audio blogs and for video blogs, Bill McRea has got video blogging down to a science.

Beyond the habits you’re encouraged to look at these informative audio and video presentations – enjoy.

Outside of the online research it behooves to also tap into local resources you may not have thought about: Try to get face time with someone close by who can help you jumpstart the blogging experience. Whether it be an instructor, friend or by attending a local workshop in your area; expect to see more and more local support for blogs.

To your continued success.

For many, the notion of having access to a real Wholesale List serves as an opportunity for both you and the potential seller who produces a wholesale list to earn money. However, on occasion you may find that certain wholesale list offer no value to the buyer. In fact, wholesalers can actually end up costing you a lot more money in lost marketing dollars, contacts, and giving you information about certain line behavior’s of your customers.
The fact is there are many ways and means people seek to acquire wholesale products including online through wholesale supplier portals and off-line through many different resources.

Don’t forget to look into your local Sunday newspaper, local trade and community magazines, auction sites off-line including church, government and private auctions held locally in neighborhoods all across America.
Before you jump into purchase a wholesale list considering doing the following:

If at all possible in your local area attempt to meet with the vendor who is doing the order fulfillment and with them how products including once you sell are being shipped out and delivered to end-users.

The fact is you have a great opportunity to source locally through trusted wholesale vendors who can usually be reached the same day. Because of the face-to-face interaction you can have with them, as well as your ability to respond to sourcing equipment and delivering it to your end-users.

What some people don’t realize is that when it comes to using a fulfillment center, unless there is a written policy in place that prohibits the fulfillment company to insert their own catalog into your shipment being sent out to your end-user can make a HUGE difference on how you extend your reach to your customers both now as well as in the future.

In fact many of the ways that you can communicate with these customers can be done for free via e-mail, websites and product distribution portals.
One more thing to pay attention to is you have access to your buyers’ contact information. Use it wisely in a way that assist your customers and communicating as well as learning more about your products and services.
As a follow-up you can easily stay in contact with your customers by simply e-mailing them from the newsletter or piece of literature in the boxes that you ship out to them.

Look at all your options to source equipment, build relationships and grow your business with little or no out-of-pocket expense. The fact is the eBay completed listings section on the eBay website is a great resource for knowing how much products of sulfur in the past, the number of products that have been sold and whether or not you may have a hot selling product in a niche market. Know this: Just because a specific item is not sold on eBay does not mean there is demand for it.

Take the time to do the research and see if someone has bought their products over to the one you’re looking to sell. For example, let’s say someone has a 1965 Mustang in stock condition, and they want to sell it. You could go out and pick up your local Sunday paper, and see if their has been a 1965 Mustang for sale over the last month.

More often than not, if you go down to local library, the library will have a copies of the Sunday paper in your area from one to three weeks ago. These older Sunday papers make a great resource to locate prospective sellers who may need help selling their car online. Simply pick the vehicles that you’re looking for and pick up the phone and call them.

Many top sellers on eBay have been fortunate enough to come across a stash of free or low-cost items that they can turn around and sell for a hefty profit. But for complete beginners who are new to eBay, it may seem almost overwhelming – the sheer amount of (sometimes wrong!) information out there telling you what to do.

Many people ask me how they can start a business on eBay with little to no up-front costs. They wonder if it’s even possible and what route to take. The truth is – it is possible and being done by people online from all walks of life, every day.

Here’s how you can make money from eBay with very little upfront investment at all (or sometimes even none!)

If you want to get involved in selling products in volume with little or no risk what you need to do is you need to find companies that will let you sell their product on consignment or through what we call a virtual inventory model.

That’s to say that there are companies out there who will give you their artwork, who will give you images of their products, they’ll give you resources that you can use to sell their products for them.

A lot of people who acquire my audiocassette package can be new to eBay. They can be intermediate users. Believe me there’s a lot of people out there who do not have the skills that are required to sell on eBay.

There’s a lot of people out there who have great products but for one reason or another, maybe they’re running a business where they have a retail storefront, they would rather outsource the whole auction selling part of their business to someone to do that.

This provides great opportunities for those of you who want to help people sell products. If you go to the eBay homepage, and the help page for that matter, there is a link you can click on called Seller’s Assistant.

You can, with just a 50 feedback rating online, sell products for other people in your local neighborhood. That’s a great tool. I encourage you if you really want to minimize costs, sell products for other people initially and earn some money through them through selling their products.

But if you’re going to do that make sure that you specify in your contract with the person you’re selling the products on consignment for that they fulfill their obligations, that they pay you a rate that is appropriate for whatever the item is that they’re selling.

There’s some inherent benefits in selling products for other people using your name. You get a higher feedback rating and more feedback even though they’re not your products you’re selling. That’s a big plus.

You also get to acquire an email account for a customer who bought your product. So you can utilize that email contact information to approach the customer again who bought your product about other items you have.

So remember, before we had talked about the importance of capturing information and using continuity in your sales process.

This too is a great point that you need to stress and also that you can implement if you want to minimize your startup costs and sell products for pennies on the dollar.

Now the next question we have here from our listening audience comes from David from Cleveland, Ohio. He wants to understand how easy it is to manage your auction or auctions with ease.

Well, there’s a couple of vehicles you can use. There is a product you can get. Its a free product you can get from eBay. Its called Turbo Lister.

Turbo Lister is auction listing technology that helps you create your listings effectively, at certain time intervals, etc.

A lot of people will use Turbo Lister if they’re selling products in numerous auctions. For two reasons – one is its a very easy application to learn. Once you learn Turbo Lister, you can use it over and over again.

A second benefit of Turbo Lister is that you can literally do a hundred auctions a minute through Turbo Lister once you understand how it works – its functionality, its features.

You can program it to list auctions simultaneously with little or no effort. Remember the whole point of this audio broadcast is to make sure that you do things effectively.

We want you to learn things that I’ve learned from interviewing numerous power sellers and my own experience also and do that in such a way that its cost effective and those two aforementioned statements are certainly powerful tools that you can use.

How do you truly use positive feedback and a money back guarantee when dealing with online auctions? What if you get negative feedback from a customer – should you give them negative feedback in return?

There are a lot of options and methods for maximizing the amount of positive feedback you receive, helping boost consumer confidence in your products and minimizing (and taking advantage) of negative feedback when you get it.

Feedback for the most part should always be positive to the person who buys the product from you.

The reason I say that is a lot of times people will look at your feedback as a tool to make a decision as to whether or not they want to buy your product based on your feedback.

Personally its been my experience being on many auction sites, as well as eBay, is that there is no benefit to giving negative feedback to anyone.

Of course you’re going to come across people who are going to give you negative feedback no matter how good your product is.

I’ve learned from my experience as a Senior Media Consultant that I am not America’s guest. It doesn’t matter how good your product is or how hard you try to please people, you’re going to come across consumers out there who nothing will ever satisfy them.

So you need to expect negative feedback. That doesn’t mean you have to give that person negative feedback if they give you negative feedback; there’s alternatives to that.

Give positive feedback. If a person gives you negative feedback, ask them questions. Email them a question and ask them to justify the negative feedback. If the negative feedback is justifiable; if its in fact valid for reasons that the consumer has, work on a strategy to eliminate that in the future.

Take the knowledge from a negative feedback and use that for improving your service and your product deliver to the consumer.

Money back guarantees – I think money back guarantees are very valuable. Money back guarantees instill trust in you and your products.

Know this: You’re far better off to offer a money back guarantee. If you’re going to sell products specify a money back guarantee.

If you’re selling a service and its a labor intensive service, specify the terms of the service and the warranty and/or satisfaction guarantee that you offer.

For services, be cautious about a money back guarantee. Specify a satisfaction guarantee. If a customer wants you to do work for them, lets say a customer wants you to build a website for them, be cautious about that.

Use judgment when offering a satisfaction guarantee. Its important that you’re a professional in terms of what you offer but you’re going to back it up with a satisfaction guarantee.

Believe it or not, there’s a lot that goes into building an eBay business. Very few people have made it successfully sitting in their pajamas doing business from their kitchen table (you can do that AFTER you become a huge eBay success story!)

To truly make money on eBay there are certain “important steps” you’ll need to not only follow, but master in order to maximize your marketing exposure and double or even triple the profits you’ll earn from your online auctions.

For example, create a simple back-end catalog. This too is very powerful; when you can combine the marketing mediums that are available with an open auction with products that sell synergistically or that compliment each other and do that at the right time of the week during the right time of the year you are truly creating a formula for success.

I want to make sure that people who are out there and are trying to figure out how that works can understand the relationship of what that means for success and truly maximize your profits online.

You have to put these different variables together to really come up with a formula for profit optimization and what I’ve made mention of is truly putting you ahead.

Now lets talk a little bit about profit optimization. The ultimate goal of 99% of sellers is to make a profit online. Profit optimization is obviously one of the major goals that a lot of sellers have online.

Less than 1% of the sellers online are going to know what we’re going to talk about in this next segment. I’m going to share these secrets with you that will truly skyrocket your sales and benefit you not only online but offline as well.

So what basic strategy can buyers and sellers follow to ensure that they’re getting the best return on their time investment using online auction venues such as eBay, Clickbank, Yahoo, MSN, Ioffer, Buyandsell.com or other sites?

Well let me say some stuff that I’ve learned is of great value if you simply apply it. Keep in mind that what I want to talk to you about is not just applicable to selling your product on eBay or again the aforementioned sites.

These are secrets that I’ve learned from power sellers, successful writers, and numerous individuals out there who have been extremely successful in selling their products.

I think one of the biggest mistakes that people make online is they don’t see the true value in being direct on what it is that they’re selling.

What I say is you have to be direct. You need to get to the point – be specific and clarify what it is your saying to the potential buyer. In being direct there is one thing that I’ve learned that I think will benefit people enormously.

You have to have a compelling message. With whatever it is that your selling you need to make sure that the message is compelling. I can’t tell you how many listings I see out on line where people have a good product yet the message about the product, its features, its benefits and the real worth of the product is not communicated through a compelling message.

I say this and I’m very staunch about this compelling message because I’ve had products available for years and for so long I didn’t know how to market them effectively. The use of a compelling message is not just writing text about what your saying.

You have to have a strong visual. You need to make sure that when you communicate a message to someone that there’s a visual.

If you recall I talked to you about selling based on price or selling products on price and value. I think the vast majority of people who are selling products out there miss the mark when we talk about value and giving a compelling message.

They’re some key elements that you’ll see in my auction listings. As you know and as I’ve made mention earlier I sell books. Not only do I sell printed books, I sell audio books I also have video products. I do hold seminars here in the United States.

Whenever I sell a product I try to make sure that there’s a visual component to my listing that we’ll call an advertisement. I try to make sure that there’s a visual component that compliments what I say or binds to the reader a visual reference in terms of what it is that I’m offering.

To me that’s extremely important. If you don’t have a visual piece in what it is you’re selling, chances are you’re going to really miss out; you’re going to miss out on what’s available so again a strong compelling message with a good visual is really important.

In part one of my “Dutch Auctions” article, I mentioned a few of the reasons why you’d want to consider using a Dutch auction for your eBay product listing. But oftentimes, many people skip Dutch Auctions entirely and opt to host multiple auctions of the same product using the Buy Now option.

There’s another strategy you can use to tap into the power of Dutch auctions, but it depends on the type of product you’re promoting.

There’s also one very common mistake you’ll want to avoid when setting up your auction. I see both beginners and experienced sellers alike doing this all too often.

With a buy now auction if you know how many are being sold in terms of when the auction opens you can tabulate that and actually write that down.

You can write it down on a piece of paper take that information and come back to the auction lets say that its a ten day auction come back to it five days later and find out how many of those items have sold.

The vast majority of the people who are on eBay are smart shoppers. They’re looking for value. I’ve talked to you previously about the difference between buying on price and buying on value.

I’m a big believer when I sell a product to make sure that I give the consumer good value for the products that I’m selling and that’s something that you really have to consider in terms of buying and selling online.

Make sure that you use Dutch auctions effectively when you have multiple products and make correlation studies. Document how many you’re selling in a particular category. You want to be able to use that knowledge and apply that information in the future.

The cyclical nature of products that are being sold online especially through online auction sites has a big impact on how many can be sold.

That’s to say its a lot tougher to sell fur coats in the middle of the summer than it is to sell them in the middle of winter.

If you’re going to sell products in quantity and they are cyclical in nature make sure that you sell them in the right time of the season.
I can’t begin to tell you how many people I’ve met who try and sell products that are off-season products during the off season. You don’t want to do that. You just don’t want to do that.

So as simple as that sounds its really important that people understand that and that they understand there’s two ways you can price things – you can price them based on price only or you can price them on the price that they can be sold on and the value that they deliver to the consumer.

Those would be certainly some things that you would want to think about with Dutch auctions for most of us who are familiar with eBay.

For those of use who are not familiar with eBay, there is a ton of information you can get off the site that will tell you more about the specific auctions.

Dutch Auctions allow you to sell to multiple bidders and buyers if you have several quantities of the same item.

Most sellers discount Dutch Auctions because they believe it somehow dampens the value of what they want to sell, or it somehow makes it seem like they have an unlimited quantity and therefore they don’t get many real bids. Neither of these can truly do the kind of imagined damage to an auction than some sellers think they can.

In fact, Dutch auctions can be incredibly useful when you approach them the right way. Here’s a method I use to continually and successfully sell products using Dutch auctions.

If you think about a Dutch auction, you can list a thousand of the same item and sell a thousand of the same item with just one auction. That is a huge benefit for someone who doesn’t want to put up a lot of different auctions.

They can take one type of product and sell that product over and over again through one single auction. That’s a huge time saver.

That’s why a lot of retailers will use Dutch auctions – because they want to make sure they can get out as much volume as they can through one auction site.

So what influences me using Dutch auctions? Well there’s a couple variables; a key variable that I look at when selling products through Dutch auctions is the velocity of the product – how fast is the product moving through the auction?

How many of them do I sell a day? If I can sell ten a day that’s great but if I have a product that’s in a Dutch auction and I can only sell one a week it doesn’t serve a purpose. Its better to just sell one through a regular auction.

There’s many people out there who they have multiple quantities of the same product and they want to sell it through different categories.

That’s OK too. But again one of the major drivers begin using Dutch auctions is to gain the ability to sell a product through multiple quantities through one single listing.

That also gives the buyer a chance to go see if the product is selling.

If you have a buy now auction and people are looking to see that purchases have been made on the product that can serve as a marketing tool or a marketing vehicle to influence the buyer to buy the product. One thing you’ll notice about buy now auctions and open auctions is that if an open auction is in fact a Dutch auction you can see that multiple people have bought that book.

With a regular open auction at this point in time I can’t see how many books have been sold. So there’s a crossover; there’s a meeting that you go through where if you see a product and you see that the product has been sold to other people that adds somewhat to the credibility, to a product’s worthiness because other people have looked at it they’ve looked at the ad and they’ve seen that in fact it looks like a good product and they are more likely to buy it.

Remember, know when to use Dutch Auctions and when to simply use auctions that are for a single item with one time sales.

However this can be one of the biggest mistakes you can make as an eBay seller (not to mention having one frustrated and unhappy customer on your hands!) There are ways to use Reserve Auctions to your advantage if you follow a few proven tips you’ll learn in this article.

But you have to be careful — too many times potential bidders will see your auction (without the reserve price mentioned) and simply give up – not knowing how much you’ve set the item to truly cost. Here are ways to get around that common obstacle and be successful at setting reserve prices in your auction.

From a buying standpoint you will see a reserve auction and it talks about hitting a reserve price and the seller is under no obligation to sell if it does not hit the reserve price.

What I’m really concerned about is that during this whole auction and if it lasts seven days, ten days, even three days, and I’m really interested in this product, so my concern is why would I want to go waste my time, maybe not waste my time but put in so much time and effort into trying to purchase this product under a price which I feel is feasible and which I feel is going to be of high value and maybe not hit the reserve price and not get the item?

So what it all comes down to is why do people use reserve auctions and what are the benefits to using them?

Well from a sellers point of view a reserve auction serves as a control mechanism. It serves as a tool that will allow me to sell a product without losing money on it.

If you recall earlier when I talked about selling optimization, there’s a huge value in reserve auctions for sellers.

Now if I’m a seller and I’m selling a product under a reserve auction if I have a good supply chain I know where to get my products at a great price I can use a reserve auction to ensure that I don’t jeopardize my dollars and my products through the reserve auctions.

That’s to say lets say I have a product that I know if I sell it for $100 I’ll make a $10 profit. If I open up a reserve auction at say $10 I know that more people are going to look at that dollar amount.

Even if its a reserve auction, more people are going to look at that reserve auction and think well let me put a bid in and see if it sells.

In listening to buyers’ frustration about reserve auctions, I think one thing needs to be communicated to my readers

Any smart power seller who has a product in a reserve auction should at the end of his or her auction, they should make sure that they put in what the product will sell for, in other words, what is the reserve price.

Doing so will give the potential buyer a reference point for when they should actually put a bid in for a dollar amount and if in fact they’re getting a fair price.

I told you earlier that one of the best things you can do in selling optimization is to use a virtual inventory model.

Many successful sellers have contacts where they don’t have to buy the product but they know how much the product costs. So what does that do for them in terms of a reserve auction and how does that impact their business?

Well, with a reserve auction if I can buy that product for $100 and I set my reserve to lets say $125 I don’t have to hold that inventory. As a seller, I don’t need to inventory that product if I know that I can get it at a cheaper price.

That’s the value of a reserve auction for the seller. For the buyer, a reserve auction is definitely something that can be a roadblock if the seller doesn’t tell you what the reserve price is in the listing.

And that’s always been a problem. I see a lot of auctions out there with reserves on them and they don’t say anywhere in the listing at all about the reserve price is this x amount of money.

Now how are we supposed to know? We keep bidding and bidding and bidding until we hit that reserve price but then we realize something this is more than we actually wanted to pay for it.

Well, again I think there are a couple of strategies – you can actually email the seller selling the product – take a moment to email them.

This is a mistake a lot of experts are making who sell on eBay is they don’t tell buyers what the reserve price is. In talking to a lot of successful power sellers it is very important to tell the potential buyer what the reserve price is.

It gives the potential buyer a reference point to look at if they want to actually buy the product.

Its not a double edged sword that we’re looking at here but it is an issue for buyers and the best way to get around it is to tell the potential buyer what is the reserve price. I think reserve auctions are actually very beneficial for a lot of people but again that’s something that you take on a case by case basis.
