How to Avoid Common Mistakes and Increase Sales When Selling Your Products on eBay

Selling information products (or “info products” as they’re often called) on eBay is a very lucrative way and one of the best eBay tips I know of to make money on the popular auction site. But oftentimes, when eBay selling entails offering an item, video presentation or audio product on eBay, people set themselves up for failure right from the start.

Below are tips for selling on eBay that are things to avoid and also do to make more money.

* Common Mistake – Not Offering Information Products in Multiple Media Formats

This is a very common mistake among those who sell information products or knowledge-based products. These people don’t employ those eBay tips that urge them to take the time to create ease of accessibility to other products they offer for buyers. What does that mean – multiple media formats?

What that means is that if your eBay selling consists of offering only books, you’re missing out on 75% of the pie. Not all people who buy products out there want to buy a book from you. A perfect example and one of my favorite eBay tips is to attract someone who buys audiocassettes.

* A lot of people who buy audio products from those eBay selling vendors offering them do so because they would rather buy an audio recording that frees them up from having to handle a book, such as having to highlight the key areas.

Tips for selling on eBay should definitely include selling audio products. Audio products free people up from having to actually read the book; they can listen to it instead. They can play and listen to the audiocassette while they’re cooking, while they’re driving in their vehicle, while they’re doing other tasks. They’re able to get knowledge-based products and solutions (including eBay tips!) to their questions and concerns conveniently in the form of an audio medium.

* What about eBay selling to people who like seminars? What about people who have an interest in actually experiencing the purchase of a particular product or service?

Well, that’s extremely important, too, and should be at the top of your list of tips to selling on eBay. There are people who would rather come out and meet a seller in person. Some people would rather come out and see a seminar, get the printed material and actually experience the buying process and the educational process in person.

Why does that work and why is that one of the eBay tips I recommend? Well, a lot of times people have specific questions unique to their individual situation, and they’re willing to pay extra money to come out and meet you in person, rather than to get your information solely through your eBay selling. They prefer to listen to guest speakers “live” and to learn more about how they can succeed and incorporate knowledge they’ve acquired throughout their years of experience with what you share with them. So it’s really a valuable tool and should be part of your valuable tips for selling on eBay to offer your product in different media formats that are not just in print but also available through audio formats and perhaps video and through seminars. It is important that people realize that.

What are some good eBay tips you can use and learn about electronic media such as CD-ROMs or possibly DVDs, since that’s becoming increasingly popular these days? What you’re seeing these days is a transition in video technology from VHS technology to DVD. The recent statistics show that VHS will be obsolete probably in about the next four years – that’s what’s been projected and something you need to keep in mind for your eBay selling endeavors.

You’re also seeing some advances when it comes to Internet technology. There is a big thrust with increased bandwidth on the Internet for people to use called “video streaming.” This is another thing you need to keep under consideration as you compile your list of tips for selling on eBay.

* The multi-media functionality that the Internet provides for us is very powerful, so you have to file this away in your eBay tips and make sure that you do offer products in multiple formats. In your eBay selling auctions, online advertisements and anything that you’re offering, the more formats you have available, the bigger potential you have for customers actually buying your product.

Many customers want to be able to find out more about products online. So, at the top of your list of tips for selling on eBay, remember this: Instead of sending them a long, lengthy e-mail letter, you send them a link, which is a download link they can get off the Internet that tells them about your product.

It gives them objective information about what the product consists of, but it’s in an audio format. What it does is free you up from having to type a long, lengthy letter explaining what the product consists of – and that’s a big plus as far as being one of those very useful eBay tips that saves a lot of time.
