How to Sell More Products on eBay Before, During and After Your First Customer Contact

Creating a compelling, persuasive and attractive ad is just one of many eBay tips you can use to make your auction stand out. I often take several hours in my eBay selling endeavors to design a listing with the simple reasoning that if you are going to get a number of quality bids, you want to take the time to make sure people understand the value of what they’re getting. But at the same time, design and description are tips for selling on eBay that encompass just two of the three variables needed in a successful listing.

When we talk about those two variables, there’s also another variable I want to include for you in my tips for selling on eBay that’s very important. That variable is a differential statement – something that differentiates your product from others.

What is it that differentiates your product from another?

Among some of my best eBay tips, let me cite for you what differentiates some of my products from others and that I try to communicate to potential buyers. I made mention of the strong message – being direct. I made mention of the strong visual, and I make mention of the differential for optimum eBay selling. What is a differentiator? What is that something that’s different about my product?

Similar to what you should consider as good tips for selling on eBay, I offer my customers free book revision upgrades. When a customer buys a product from me, if it’s a book, if it’s a video, if it’s something that can be updated and enhanced, I want to make sure that the consumer gets that product for free at a future date. This is done so that I differentiate myself in that medium. If you’ll recall, in other eBay tips, I talked about buying products either based on price or based on price and value.

In this ultra-competitive economy we are in, you have to make sure that those aforementioned tips for selling on eBay are utilized as functions that are in place as part of your eBay selling stratagem. Be direct, have a compelling message and a strong visual, communicating the benefits as compared to the features with the awareness of the features being part of the visual.

With every differentiator, if you can use it effectively in what you’re selling, you’re going to be much more successful than the person next door, and this is one of those eBay tips not just applicable to books. It can be applied to numerous products in your eBay selling. The people who produce and make those very popular products you see being sold with ads on TV know this; it’s not just among those tips for selling on eBay.

This is valuable knowledge that can be applied to numerous items. Another thing in your arsenal of eBay tips that’s extremely important is that you need to know your market, and you need to know that eBay is a large marketplace. The client base of eBay is enormous, but customers don’t go into a supermarket called “eBay” – they look for a specific product because they have a need for that specific product or service. If you’re going to do eBay selling right, you need to know the market.

Let me ask you a question: Would you see Stephen King selling his books on eBay? No, you wouldn’t. Do you see Harry Potter books being sold by the distributors of Harry Potter on eBay? No, of course not.

Realize the following as one of several smart eBay tips: If you market your product simultaneously through several channels, you will have a much better opportunity for success and obviously up the profitability of the product as well as your eBay selling efforts.

Another of my tips for selling eBay includes trying to offer products in different mediums. I sell hard books, audio books and videos, and I also do seminars here in North America. You can do the same thing (at least to a certain extent) if you simply apply your skills and these eBay tips to the task at hand. Buyers don’t always buy based on what they read; sometimes they would rather listen or hear something and buy it in an auditory format. That’s really important if you want to get a bigger piece of the pie in your eBay selling strategy.

Even with a host of tips for selling on eBay, you will come to realize that eBay is a small market, and I truly believe that sellers are missing the mark if they don’t utilize other markets. Despite eBay having millions of visitors, they also have thousands of categories.

These are other vehicles and media that you can sell products and services through. So don’t focus entirely on eBay tips and miss the forest for the trees. Look around you and explore other channels other than eBay selling from which to market your products and services.
