These days, competition for hot, in-demand items on eBay can be fierce. With so many sellers competing on price, offerings and time-frame, it can be difficult for new sellers to establish their place in the bidding market.

All too often, I see eBay selling and selling on other auction sites where people are offering a product or service. So let me talk to you about promotion and how that works as one of the smartest tips for selling on eBay through a listing. If you look at my listings online, I sell probably less than five products on eBay’s auction site, and one thing I’ve done that very few resellers have done, is to spend time writing a good listing. What I call an eBay selling “advertisement,” eBay calls a “listing.”

For each listing ad, I’ll probably spend anywhere from two to four hours writing it. That may sound like a long time to you but as one of my best tips for selling on eBay, when you write a good listing, what you’re doing is educating the potential buyer about not only the features of your product or service, but how the product/service will benefit them.

If you look at any of my eBay selling endeavors (my online listings), you’ll notice that I take the time to give you a visual image that reinforces what it is that’s being offered.
